Dandruff Info:
Allow me to deal with a very common misconception about what causes dandruff; many people believe dandruff is caused by the scalp being too dry. This belief leads them to believe that shampooing their hair will dry out their scalp even more so they tend to avoid shampooing their hair. People with oily skin and hair tend to have dandruff problems more frequently. This is due to, mainly, a person’s eating habits. Fatty foods, sugars, and yeast products when consumed regularly will bring to life a fat-eating, yeast-like fungus called Malassezia, formerly known as Pityrosporum. Malassezia is commonly found living on the scalps of most healthy adults without causing problems. But, with poor diet and shampoo habits, sometimes it grows out of control, feeding on the oils secreted by your hair follicles and causing irritation that leads to increased cell turnover. All skin cells die and are replaced by new cells. Usually, it takes about a month for new cells to move from the lowest layer of your skin, where they form, to the outermost layer, where they die and scale off in flakes. Since cells renew themselves slowly, this process usually isn't noticeable. However, on scalps where malassezia thrive, the whole process can take as little as 9 to 11 days. Resulting in a large number of dead skin cells. As the cells fall off, they tend to clump together with oil from your hair and scalp, making them appear white, flaky and all too visible. When the flakes are larger in size and appear to have a clear beige color leaving a sour smell on the scalp, this is the evidence that the sebaceous glands are overactive due to fatty foods, sugars and a over growth of yeast in the person’s intestinal tract. Left untreated this can lead to psoriasis and eczema. Levon Holman's recommendations for dandruff is to use the Influance Stimulating System, read Dr. Don Colbert’s book on Candida and Yeast Infections www.drcolbert.com, manage what you eat in comparison with the book, manage your stress, and shampoo your hair more often. Remember “One Product Line Is Mandatory!
